Harvest Festival

This year, children participated in the Harvest festival by making generous donations of tinned foods and dry foods to help our local community. Children and families all came together to support those that are in need and to help make a difference to people’s lives.

The charity that we work very closely with is ‘Ambition Aspire Achieve’ and they have collected our donations and will distribute the food to those in need. ‘Ambition Aspire Achieve’ is a well-known charity that focuses on supporting young people and their communities in Newham.

Children also had the opportunity to join the Harvest live video lesson organised by the National Farmers Union. The live lesson allowed children to go on a journey with several farmers and learn how to make Curry Beef Patties. Children learnt about where the ingredients came from including celery, potatoes, eggs and beef mince.

They also joined the cooks in the kitchen and learnt about the different steps needed to make delicious Curry Beef Patties. There were many cross-curricular links to Science around the topics of Plant Reproduction and Healthy Diets. At the end of the session, children were given a chance to reflect back on the lesson and write about what they learnt and enjoyed the most.

Their feedback was incredible! It is evident that they really enjoyed this live lesson and many of them could not believe where our vegetables came from!
