On Tuesday 7th November 2023, we had the pleasure of welcoming British Olympic gymnast – Courtney Tulloch, after having raised funds for ‘Sports for Champions UK.’ The event was aimed at inspiring pupils to become more physically active which promotes good health and wellbeing.
The GB athlete is a specialist in rings and vault, is the double Commonwealth Games champion on rings in 2018 and 2022, and a silver medalist on vault. In addition, he was also part of the gold medal-winning England team at the Commonwealth Games of 2018 and 2022
This fun-filled day included assemblies where the gymnast, Courtney inspired pupils by sharing his success, including three of his medals but also his challenges and how he overcame them. There was time allocated for pupils to direct any questions to the gymnast about his career. The greatest highlight was when the gymnast did a few demonstrations to show off his gymnastic skills, which led to cheers in the hall as pupils were so impressed to see him in action.
This was followed by each class having a timetabled slot to participate in a fitness circuit session with Courtney. Pupils showed great enthusiasm during this time and took photographs with the athlete.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Courtney for giving up his time, for sharing his achievements and incredible gymnastic skills with our children. It is an experience they will always remember!
