Lathom’s Poetry Competition 2023

To celebrate National Poetry Day, a poetry competition was launched at Lathom Junior School. This year’s theme was ‘refuge’ and children from Years 3 to 6 were encouraged to write a poem about what ‘refuge’ means to them, in their chosen style. It was a joy to see so many children show such great enthusiasm to get their entries in before the deadline. On Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th October, winners were announced for each year group and students were given certificates and prizes.

Year 3 winners are as follows: Abha from Hornbeam class; Muhammad Z from Hazel class and Mithusa from Hazel class. Year 4 winners are Muhammad from Maple class; Anayah from Maple class and Saad from Oak class. Our Year 5 winners are Khaira from Willow class; Yazdan from Willow class and Nuh from Yew class.

Winners from Year 6 are as follows: Mansoor from Beech class; Rithuna from Aspen class and Fareeha from Aspen class. Congratulations to all our Lathom winners!

All participants received certificates for their efforts.
