Y6 Experience Day

This term, Year 6 students participated in a Writing Immersion day, where they experienced what life was like for evacuees during World War Two. They engaged in various activities including when the billeting officer acted in role. Their learning outcomes included mind maps of an evacuee’s experience at the train station, role on the wall of the billeting officer and a comparison grid for London and the countryside.

This experience will support students when writing their recount letters based on the core text, ‘Letters from the Lighthouse’ as they will empathise with Olive as she writes to her aunt, Gloria about her evacuation.
