Year 4 visit to Princess Diana’s Memorial Park

Year 4 students have been on a visit to the Princess Diana’s Memorial Park, where they engaged in role-play around a ship setting. The scenery matched the Kensuke’s Kingdom setting and allowed our children to visualise the activities on board. They learnt about parts of a ship and their purpose.  They used a dinghy to escape the storm and even enacted living in ‘teepees’, gathering food and fire logs to survive. It was a great way to write recounts about Micheal’s journey when he was separated from his parents after a terrible storm washed him off the ship and left him stranded on an unknown island. Children gained a wealth of vocabulary and experience to start writing from Michael’s perspective.
