Years 3 & 4 British Values Assembly

On Friday 9th March 2024, MP for East Ham, Sir Stephen Timms attended Years 3 and 4 British Values assembly. This presentation commenced with Year 3 children from Hazel Class leading the singing of a British Values song. This was followed by a lively PSCHE drama sketch by Elder Class illustrating each of the five British Values and finally Holly Class performed Benjamin Zephaniah’s poem ‘The British’ seamlessly. All the classes displayed their work with lovely contributions across the curriculum, in particular a 3D poetry display, E4C, Science, History, Art and RE all woven with British Values at their core.

Children in Year 4 worked very hard the week of the 8th March – ‘British Values Week’. They had activities based around the five values and focused on History, Science, Poetry, Art, RE, Music and Computing. For example, children during the History session explored the Suffragettes and how they helped with Democracy and Rights for everyone. They then interviewed the main suffragettes to see why they wanted fairness. Year 4 students presented their amazing work to Sir Stephen Timms.

There was a lovely sense of community as the assembly unfolded and how children portrayed all the British Values in their learning across the curriculum.

Thank you Everyone for your hard work and making British Values Week a resounding success!
