On Friday 11th November, ten Year 6 students represented Lathom Junior School at the Newham Schools’ Armistice Service at the cenotaph in Central Park, East Ham. This year is the 104th Armistice anniversary of the end of World War One and at 10:50 a.m, this service was joined by members of the British Royal Legion and representatives of Newham Local Authority.
A two-minute silence took place just before 11 am at the Cenotaph. After the service, Lee Skeggs, a British Legion representative, spoke to the children about people named on the cenotaph.
Upon their return to school, children wrote reflections based on the day’s experience. What a memorable event it was!
